With Internet shopping and package tracking ever on the increase, UPS looks to have more than 91 Million online package tracking requests during its Peak Week and almost 300 Million hits on its web site, www.UPS.com on Peak Day. Forrester Research predicts that sales on the Internet will be $13.2 Billion, a 20% rise over 2003 figures.

In order to meet increased demand, the carrier will add 24 jets to the operating fleet of UPS Airlines, already the ninth largest in North America. Too, 7,000 vehicles will be added to the carrier’s 88,000 fleet of tractors, vans and package cars. In the U.S. there well be 70,000 seasonal workers hired, including those as driver helpers and package sorters.

For sending your own packages, UPS recommends these shipping deadlines for its products: Monday, December 20 for 3 Day Select; Tuesday, December 22 for 2nd Day Air; and Thursday, December 23 for Next Day Air.
