BNSF May Join the New Dallas Logistics Hub

BNSF (Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railway) has taken an option to purchase between 387 and 530 acres of land within the hub for an intermodal facility.

BNSF (Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railway) has taken an option to purchase between 387 and 530 acres of land within the hub for an intermodal facility. The railroad is undertaking a study to determine if the site would be of benefit. It fronts 8,000 feet of BNSF track in the City of Dallas and is part of 2½ miles of the carrier's track within the Dallas Logistics Hub.

The Dallas Logistics Hub is the largest new logistics park under development in the country, according to th Allen Group, a major developer of commercial properties. It features 6,000 master-planned acres for development of 60 million square feet of distribution, manufacturing,office and retail use.

Allen has development plans for two industrial buildings—at 640,000 and 210,000 square feet—to begin construction in June and be completed by the end of this year. In addition to to warehousing and distribution, the master plan includes light manufacturing and retail support services as well as what the developers characterize as business-class hotels, restaurants, single- and multi-family housing.
