GREENVILLE, S.C.-Sept. 29, 2003-Datastream Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTM) today announced that Holly Corporation has gone live with a deployment of the Datastream 7i™ asset performance management solution across two of its oil refineries.

Based in Dallas, Holly Corporation is engaged in refining, transporting, terminalling and marketing petroleum products. Holly Corporation is using Datastream 7i to manage and maintain complex refinery assets at its Woods Cross refinery and Navajo Refining Company, which together process more than 85,000 barrels per day of crude oil. Holly Corporation is also using Datastream 7i to automate its procurement processes and has integrated Datastream 7i with its proprietary financials system using Databridge™, Datastream’s application integration module.

“Datastream 7i’s Web architecture and robust functionality allow us to replace several legacy stand-alone applications with a single EAM solution,” said Tommy Guercio, vice president of information technology for Holly Corporation. “In addition, due to Datastream 7i’s flexibility, we were able to offer each business unit the ability to tailor certain functions to meet their respective business needs. This was evidenced by our team’s successful integration of our Woods Cross Refinery to our initial Navajo deployment.”

“Our business is all about keeping our refineries up and running,” added Lynn Keddington, maintenance manager at the Woods Cross refinery. “Datastream 7i enables us to optimize resource utilization through more efficient scheduling and better management of parts inventories, and reduce downtime during major maintenance events. Datastream 7i also gives us insight into asset cost history and equipment performance.”

During its initial deployment at the Navajo plant, Holly Corporation formed a cross-functional implementation team that worked closely with Datastream to define the new integrated work processes that would be supported by the system. The key players on this team included Charles Hutchings from the maintenance department, Rodney Smith from operational accounting, Ricky Swafford from operations, Craig Dallas and Jon Ross from financial accounting, Mark Sanderson from purchasing, Jennifer Hilliard from engineering and Willie Reed, Bob Bailey and Nasir Qureshi from information technology.

Datastream 7i can support cross-functional work processes because the product can be deployed across multiple sites and departments, and can be readily integrated with other enterprise applications through Databridge.

“Functions like maintenance, inventory and procurement are all interrelated, but before Datastream 7i, we did not have the technology in place to support coordinated processes across these and other functional areas,” Smith said. “Datastream 7i lets us be far more efficient in how we plan and manage the operations of the Navajo and Woods Cross facilities.”

“When we rolled-out Datastream 7i at Woods Cross, our team benefited greatly from the knowledge gained from the Navajo implementation,” Bailey said. “We each understood the critical functionality and processes surrounding the rollout and primarily focused on data conversion and training. This is what enabled us to get the deployment up and running in less than 90 days.”

“Datastream has worked closely with Holly Corporation to help marry the capabilities of Datastream 7i with the real-world processes and business requirements of its refineries,” said Datastream President and CEO Larry Blackwell. “Business processes are limited only by the applications supporting them. Datastream 7i can extend across multiple departments, functions and sites, providing operations like Holly Corporation the opportunity to tightly integrate cross-functional work processes and derive new efficiencies and cost-savings.”
