Banner Mark Sensor
Banner Engineering Corp.’s R58A series registration mark sensor detects registration marks to ensure correct label placement on containers.
When a packaging line prints labels on a continuous web, the R58A sensor detects the registration mark on the labels as they pass at high speeds, according to Banner. When the mark is detected, the sensor sends a signal to cut the web, allowing accurate label placement.
A potentiometer adjusts the sensor’s switching threshold. The R58A can detect subtle registration marks on high-gloss materials and in low-contrast applications. Applications include label printing, filling and bottling, sealing and labeling machines and bag printing, forming and sealing.
A single emitter color—red or green, specified by model number—ensures the preferred light source is used. The more advanced R58E expert series sensor offers three LED sensing colors, allowing users to tailor contrast to application requirements.
