Army Awards Auto ID Contract to Northrop Grumman

The US Army's Automatic Identification Technology IV (AIT IV) program will use software, hardware, and engineering services from Northrop Grumman and four other companies to achieve increased functionality, visibility and control across the US Department of Defense and federal agency logistics systems.

The AIT IV program is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract with a maximum ceiling value of $418.5 million available for task order awards. Work on the contract will be conducted over a three-year base period with one, two-year, and one, four-year option period.

Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector will supply mobile computers with software, scanners, barcode printers, wireless technology, item unique identification (IUID) with part marking, and armory management kits, as well as the technical engineering services to implement this technology. Technical engineering services will include design, development, integration, deployment, training and data management

Northrop Grumman is the only prime contractor to be awarded all three Defense Department Joint Automatic Identification Technologies ID/IQ contracts which include AIT IV, Passive RFID and RFID III. These contracts provide comprehensive AIT and RFID solutions for the Defense Department, the US Coast Guard, federal agencies, North Atlantic Treaty Organization nations and other foreign countries. Work on the AIT IV contract will be conducted at Northrop Grumman's AIT Center in Williamsburg, VA, with additional services conducted at government facilities worldwide.

Joining Northrop Grumman are Williams Software Associates, Fayetteville, NC; Onyx Government Services Inc. and XIO Strategies Inc., Vienna, VA.; CYTEC Software Systems Inc., Ridgeland,MS.; Evanhoe and Associates, Dayton, OH; and Motorola, Schaumburg, IL.
