ALK Partners With uShip.com

The transportation Web site uShip.com will use PC*Miler as an online tool for participating carriers under a new agreement with ALK Technologies.

According to ALK, the uShip site offers a straightforward, consumer-friendly interface that enables a user to enter what item is being shipped, where it is and where it needs to go, and potential carriers then bid for the work. The company began operations in 2003 and now lists as many as 10,000 shipments at any one time. Typical shipments can be furniture, boats, motorcycles, farm equipment, horses – almost anything.

Carriers can quickly search available shipments for appropriate business along the route of a dispatched truck that has space available. PC*MILER enables carriers to bid for shipments which will make the most efficient use of trucks, drivers and fuel.

“We are pleased to be able to offer PC*MILER mileage and mapping to our 115,000 transportation service providers,” said uShip CEO, Matt Chasen.
