Schneider Adds Regional Service in the Northeast

Schneider National Inc., a provider of transportation, logistics and intermodal services, has completed the rollout of its regional plan with the addition of Northeast regional service. Available to shippers in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont, the expansion brings the total number of regional-serviced states to 48.

Schneider’s Northeast regional service specializes in shipments that are 500 miles or less, and will complement the carrier’s long haul, expedited, dedicated and intermodal services, notes Marc Rogers, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider Van Truckload.

According to Rogers, the launch of the final expansion was accelerated due to high customer demand after its regional service began in 2008. He also says that an attention to different operational needs by region—including offering higher pay to drivers willing to take on the challenge associated with driving in the congested Northeast—have fueled the company’s efforts to find professional, reliable and safe drivers.
