Purolator USA Opens Cross-Border Facility in New York

An 8,000 square foot facility opened by Purolator USA will service businesses located across the metropolitan New York region, including New York City, northern New Jersey, Westchester and Rockland counties, Long Island and southern Connecticut, the company says. Located in Farmingdale, Long Island, the facility offers comprehensive cross border logistics services for shipments traveling between the United States and Canada.

We are delighted to have a physical presence in the New York metro area,” said Mike DiBenedetto, branch manager. “Businesses are aware that Purolator is the ‘go to’ name for cross border logistics, and the response since our mid-June opening has just been fantastic.”

DiBenedetto explained the Farmingdale facility’s location provides easy access to the region’s airports, as well as to the critical highway system. Shipments arriving at the Farmingdale facility are generally processed and consolidated on-site, usually within a few hours of leaving their origin facility.

Purolator maintains operations throughout the US and Canada. This unfettered access means that Purolator can generally deliver shipments directly to the end user without having to endure costly distribution center stopovers, the DiBenedetto noted.

Purolator maintains a team of trade specialists to ensure customers are in compliance with all regulatory mandates, and to help customers take advantage of trade enhancements offered by either government.

DiBenedetto noted that while the Farmingdale facility may be new, Purolator has a long history in the New York market. Purolator Courier Ltd., which provides courier services in Canada, maintained a presence throughout the United States from the mid-1940s through the mid-1980s. Following a series of mergers and consolidations, Purolator left the US market for a period of more than 15 years. The company reemerged in 1998 as Purolator USA, a subsidiary of Purolator Courier.
