BNSF Boosts International Intermodal Service
In expanding its market coverage to include international intermodal container traffic from the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma, the railroad is offering an additional gateway for cargo moving between Asia and the U.S. Southwest. BNSF is working to improve velocity on the service as well. It continues to improve facilities both in the Pacific Northwest and Memphis. The railroad also services Chicago, St. Paul, Denver and Omaha from its Pacific Northwest gateways.
In the third quarter of 2006 the railroad reported an all-time quarterly record operating income of $920 million, and increase of $142 million, up 18%, year over year.
