Lufthansa and US Airways Enhance Cargo Interlines

Under an agreement that begins Sept. 1, 2004, Lufthansa Cargo will assume responsibility for marketing US Airways freight capacity in Europe for U.S.-bound flights. The carriers, both members of the Star Alliance, will consolidate operations and plan to move under one roof at all European airports served by US Airways. They will also combine operations in the U.S. airports at Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte, N.C. Other operations consolidations will follow.

The initial phase of the agreement covers US Airways flights from Amsterdam, Munich and Paris (Charles De Gaulle Airport) to Philadelphia International Airport and routes from Frankfurt to Charlotte, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Phase 2 of the agreement, scheduled to begin Oct. 1, 2004, will extend to US Airways freight capacity from London’s Gatwick airport to Charlotte, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. It will also cover flights from Madrid, Manchester and Rome to Philadelphia. In the summer of 2005, the agreement will extend to US Airways capacity from Glasgow, Dublin and Shannon to Philadelphia.
