Descartes Acquisitions Continue
Scancode is the latest purchase for the global logistics solutions provider.
Scancode Systems Inc. is a developer and integrator of carrier-compliant parcel and less than truckload (LTL) shipping solutions. Acquisition of the privately-held company adds 500 members to Descartes’ Global Logistics Network. Descartes Systems Group is a global on-demand, software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider.
In its ability to gather data at the loading dock and source of a shipment, Scancode extends the Descartes shipment management process to the first mile of delivery and shipment, providing increased shipper visibility. "Our carrier-compliant parcel and LTL shipping solutions are a natural extension of Descartes' Transportation Management solutions,” says Joe Mallozzi, formerly vice president of Sales and Marketing at Scancode, now vice president of Transportation Management Solutions at Descartes. "Our combined offering enables organizations to manage their deliveries from the source right through to the delivery and access key data at the starting point of the shipment."
In early February, Descartes acquired privately-held Oceanwide Inc., adding 700 members to its network and enhancing Descartes’ Customs Compliance Solutions. Oceanwide’s SaaS is aimed at serving customs brokers and freight forwarders. Among its other solutions is customs filing that includes 10+2 regulations, an automated customs broker interface and logistics management software for the small- to medium-sized freight forwarder.
