MOL Containership Docks in Jacksonville

The MOL Vision arrived in Jacksonville, FL, establishing the first direct cargo service between Jacksonville and Asian markets. The ship traveled from Ningbo, China, through the Panama Canal, arriving at its first US port of call in Jacksonville.

The full rotation of the ESX service is: Ningbo - Shanghai - Chiwan - Hong Kong - Balboa - Manzanillo, Panama - Jacksonville - Savannah - New York - Norfolk - Balboa - Ningbo.

The ship arrived at the new 158-acre TraPack Container Terminal at Jaxport's Dames Point property. TraPac will offer state-of-the-art post-Panamax container handling with a yearly capacity of 800,000 containers, according to Jaxport.

MOL has seven owned-and-operated container terminals in Japan and overseas (Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Kobe, Laem Chabang, Los Angeles, Oakland). To meet expanding needs, the new TraPac terminal is now being completed in Jacksonville, Florida and construction of a new terminal will start in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The Vision has a maximum capacity of 4,388 TEUs.
