K+N Starts Hamburg Logistics Hub
Swiss global forwarder and logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel broke ground for a new warehousing and handling facility in Obergeorgswerder, in the Hamburg area.
Kuehne + Nagel said that development, on a 120,000 sq m (1.3 million square foot) site. The logistics center will include 45,000 sq m (484,000 square feet) of warehousing and handling space. The investment amounted to around €50 million ($68.3 million).
Kuehne + Nagel said that, with this enhancement of its logistics infrastructure, it is responding to the dynamic development of both its contract logistics and overland transport activities in the Greater Hamburg area. It will consolidate these two business operations in one large-scale facility, allowing a reduction of empty trips and leveraging synergy potentials.
