Hub Group Reports Profit Amid Seasonal Intermodal Improvement

Revenues were off 24% in the current third quarter for Hub Group. The intermodal services company posted revenues of $389 million in the quarter.

Though seasonal improvements helped in the quarter, intermodal volumes are expected to decline by 4% to 8% in the fourth quarter compared with the prior-year period. Intermodal servcies account for approximately 70% of the company's revenue, according to analyst firm Stifel Nicolaus.

The company's brokerage business (about 20% of revenues) provided $74 million in revenues, off 27% year on year.
