Carriers Improve Texas Service

Averitt Express recently announced it is improving its service to and from Texas with the opening of new locations in four strategic markets.  At the same time, UPS Freight announced improvements in lanes affecting customers in Texas and Oklahoma.

The new locations for Averitt Express are in Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Del Rio and Corpus Christi. The move will improve transit times in hundreds of lanes in and out of Texas, said the carrier.

Averitt says the move will also strengthen its flexibility in these markets, better enabling it to meet shippers' needs for stronger service in the Lone Star State.

"These new locations will help us reduce transit times and enhance our capabilities for numerous Texas points," said Calvin Rackley, Averitt's regional vice president for Texas and Oklahoma. "We're opening in these cities in response to our customers’ shipping needs."

Meanwhile at competing UPS Freight, the heavy freight arm of UPS, that carrier announced it was improving transit times on 2,250 lanes affecting customers throughout Texas and southern Oklahoma.

“The network improvements extend the reach of our one-day, intra-Texas service to include direct service to more than 385 Zip codes while at the same time improving transit times between Texas and Oklahoma and major markets in the US” said Todd Holt, vice president, Line Transportation at UPS Freight.
