Averitt Expands Flatbed Services
Freight transportation provider Averitt Express is expanding its flatbed operation that it launched earlier this year. For several months Averitt has been offering flatbed services in key markets, such as Birmingham, Ala.; Atlanta, Ga.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville, Ky.; and Nashville, Tenn., but is now expanding those services due to customer demand.
According to Phil Pierce, Averitt's executive vice president of sales and marketing, what started out as a 12-flatbed trailer operation has developed into a current fleet of more than 50 flatbeds, with about 50 additional flatbed trailers on order.
"Customer feedback indicated a demand for flatbed services in several areas across our network, so it was a logical line extension for us," says Pierce.
As a result of the expansion, Averitt says it's currently hiring regional flatbed drivers in several locations.
