Volga-Dnepr Rushes 391 Tonnes of Aid to Earthquake Victims
Volga-Dnepr Airlines has completed a series of 11 IL-76TD-90VD and IL-76 freighter flights carrying 391 tonnes of relief goods to earthquake victims in Indonesia.
According to reports, around 275,000 houses were damaged by the earthquake and 1,250,000 people were affected as a result of the total or partial loss of their homes and livelihoods. Rescue teams from several countries rushed to the city of Padang to search for survivors and help to save lives.
Volga-Dnepr’s IL-76 flights operated from Kuala Lumpur to Padang, some 45 kilometers north-west of the epicenter of the earthquake. Capable of carrying up to 50 tonnes of cargo, Volga-Dnepr’s IL-76 cargo aircraft delivered water tanks, tents, blankets and generators to the region.
