DHL expands logistics network in Latin America

DHL, an express, freight and logistics company, has expanded its global customer solutions network with the opening of two new Express Logistics Centers (ELCs) in Latin America.

The launch of new ELCs -- in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Mexico City, Mexico -- complements the region's extensive strategic parts and logistics network, which currently includes 50 Strategic Parts Centers (SPCs) and the original ELC located in Miami, Florida. Worldwide, DHL operates 10 ELCs and 330 SPCs.

DHL's ELCs are warehouse and distribution service facilities designed to provide the highest level of responsiveness to a customer's logistics requirements. Among the value-added services offered to customers via the ELC are inventory management, repair/rework solutions, custom final assembly, kitting services, packaging and labelling, pick & pack, on-site brokerage, customs clearance, and next business day deliveries.

By centralizing, managing and distributing high-impact, high-value parts and products on behalf of customers, DHL offers similar services via its SPCs, which are warehouse service centers located near a customer's in-country offices. Via its SPCs, DHL provides companies a one-to-four hour distribution service, as well as product warehousing within the country, serving as a liaison between the company and its local customers.
