Schenker Adds Egypt

Through its participation in a joint venture, DB Schenker is now directly active in Egypt, the company announced.

The joint venture company was founded in Cairo together with DB Schenker’s partner for many years, ITS International Transport Service Ltd.

“The new company is a further important new hub within DB Schenker’s worldwide network. This step will enable us to provide even better, high quality end-to-end solutions across the entire process chain in this very promising growth market,” said Dr. Detlef Trefzger, Schenker AG Board member responsible for Contract Logistics/Supply Chain Management, as well as for the Region Near Middle East/Africa.

"The management and staff of our new joint venture is very familiar with the Egyptian market and customers. This will enrich our position in the region", added Peter Glatz, regional director NME / East Africa, Schenker AG.

DB Schenker founded its own company in March in Saudi Arabia, and in August 2008 a joint venture was founded in Dubai. DB Schenker manages its activities in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from its Regional Head Office in Dubai.
