Geodis Deal for IBM Global Logistics Closes

Following the December 2, 2008 announcement of the acquisition of IBM Global Logistics and the signing of a long-term service contract with IBM, Geodis has successfully closed the deal as scheduled.

A three-month joint effort with the IBM project team and Geodis has integrated the flow management platform of more than 1,200 skilled employees. Geodis is now the sole lead logistics provider for IBM, managing IBM’s worldwide asset recovery services, service parts logistics, and flow management of all hardware and software products.

In the process, Geodis has acquired IBM's world-class global network across 58 countries. Geodis is offering the employees transferred from IBM the unique opportunity to leverage their talent and expertise into a new multi-customer environment,says Jean-Louis Demeulenaere, Geodis deputy CEO. “Throughout the long-lasting partnership between IBM and Geodis, and more recently during the integration of this worldwide platform, we have shared the same values and ambitions, which has enabled us to have a smooth integration process,” he said.

Through this multi-year contract, Geodis will manage an activity of about €1.0 billion per year and integrate employees located around the world, 80% of which outside of Europe.
