Kimberly-Clark Taps APL for 3PL Services in Indonesia
Kimberly-Clark, a provider of health and hygiene brands such as Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Kotex and Depends, has chosen third-party logistics (3PL) provider APL Logistics to manage the transportation and distribution of its products throughout Indonesia. The three-year contract was awarded following a competitive tender that included a field of local and international competitors.
APL Logistics will manage transportation from Kimberly-Clark’s distribution center in Jakarta to more than 70 locations in 11 cities across Indonesia. Products will be delivered to retail outlets and Kimberly-Clark’s network of distributors for professional services such as hotels and restaurants.
APL Logistics will manage a fleet network that operates exclusively for Kimberly-Clark. The service plans the most efficient routes for ensuring faster delivery times, maximizing truck capacity and reducing emissions from transport operations.
An APL Logistics team will be based at Kimberly-Clark’s facility in Jakarta to ensure that coordination between Kimberly-Clark’s cargo handling and storage operations is integrated with APL Logistics’ transportation services, which will help ensure effective product movement throughout the supply chain. The team will also handle door-to-door documentation management, which spans initial forecasting through to obtaining and recording proof of delivery/return.
APL Logistics will use IT systems that have been customized to generate data for performance analysis.
APL Logistics also manages transportation and distribution services for Kimberly-Clark in Costa Rica.
