Evergreen and CKYH Offer New Trans Atlantic Service
Evergreen Line and the CKYH Alliance (Coscon, K Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin Shipping) launched a new Trans Atlantic Express service (TAE) which merges with Evergreen's existing North Asia-US East Coast-Europe pendulum service (NUE) and CKYH's Trans Atlantic Service, Loop 1 (TAS1).
The service will operate with four 2,400 twenty-foot-equivalent (TEU) vessels. Evergreen and CKYH will each deploy two vessels. The port rotation will be Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Le Havre, New York, Norfolk, Charleston and Antwerp.
"By working together, we expect to see a further positive impact on efficient capacity utilization and reduction in operation costs," said an Evergreen spokesman.
In other news, Evergreen announced rate restoration on its Far East and Westbound trades. The company said that in view of rising costs “a further rate restoration was necessary to continue offering customers the accustomed reliable service.” The rate restoration probram covers the Far East (including Japan) and Indian Sub-Continent to Europe and Mediterranean Westbound.
Effective September 15, 2009, the rate change is $200 per TEU. The increases apply to all cargo and commodities, including reefers and special equipment, said Evergreen.
