Kewill's software supports UPS shipper release feature

Kewill Solutions North America and UPS have announced Kewill's ClipperShip and Javalin products support a new UPS shipper release feature. The feature, available with UPS's integrated portfolio of domestic air and ground services, allows the shipper to request that shipments be delivered on the first attempt without a signature.

This option is particularly useful for those shipping time-sensitive documents, perishable goods, as well as companies delivering to residential and rural addresses. UPS customer Omaha Steaks International, a producer of high-end perishable foods, uses the shipper release feature because its product mandates timely delivery or spoilage if returned through the usual UPS service feature of multiple delivery attempts and return.

Any shipper who uses UPS Internet Shipping, UPS CampusShip and ConnectShip also can access shipper release. UPS WorldShip users will be able to use the new feature in January 2005. Shipper release cannot be used with C.O.D. service, any UPS return service, signature required or adult signature required delivery confirmation.
