With cases of SARS reported for travelers from Asia to Canada, The City of Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health (www.toronto.ca/visitors) , Dr. Sheela Basrur, notes, “All SARS cases in Toronto are linked to exposure in a health care setting or are related to travel in one of the endemic countries.”

In Guangzhou, China Southern Airlines (www.cs-air.com/en) , the country’s largest airline, has taken extreme measures to reassure the public with a vigorous fight against SARS. Most of its ten-step program is aimed at calming the fears of passengers.

Establishment of a Special Task Force, daily comprehensive disinfection of public areas, and ongoing disinfection of all work areas should be of interest to shippers with concerns about the disease.
