Already located at the Georgia port are warehouses for Home Depot and Wal-Mart. Now under construction, the new Target distribution center (DC) is located in an area named the Savannah River International Trade Park, located four miles from the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal.

Completion of the warehouse is scheduled for 2007. It will serve for bulk storage for replenishment of Target stores across the Southeast. The merchandiser operates 41 stores in the State, including seven SuperTarget stores. Estimates are that within the next five years Target will be importing more than 60,000 40-foot containers annually.

Target already has a 1.5 million square foot DC in Tifton, Georgia and is in the midst of building a 1.5 million square foot regional DC in Midway, Georgia. The Midway DC is located adjacent to Interstate 95 and is the first facility to be located in the new 4,700 acre MidCoast Business Center.
