Menlo Opens New DC for Dow Chemical
Menlo Worldwide Logistics has announced the opening of a new, 134,000-square foot distribution center (DC) for the Dow Chemical Co. in Bay City, Mich.
The new facility will provide strategic warehousing and distribution services for Dow Wolff Cellulosics products manufactured in Midland, Mich. Cellulosics products are used in pharmaceutical, food and building-material applications, among others.
As Dow’s third-party logistics provider (3PL), Menlo provides inventory management and fulfillment services, including receiving, putaway, storage and shipping of the cellulose products, which are packaged in drums, bags and supersacks.
Menlo and Dow also designed a new transportation management program for inbound and outbound freight shipments. Previously, trucks hauled product from Midland, Mich., to an existing Menlo warehouse in Grove City, Ohio. Now, Bay City receives inbound shipments directly from Dow’s Midland plant and then ships completed orders to customers.
