Atlas Copco to Open $6 Million Distribution Center

Atlas Copco announces plans to open a new, 131,000-square foot distribution center (DC) in Charlotte, N.C., in May 2010.

The facility will distribute products under the Atlas Copco, BeaconMedæs, Desoutter and Chicago Pneumatic brands. According to Atlas Copco, the DC will process 476,000 orders annually and ship an average of 1,000 parcels per day. The company says the facility will serve as a central distribution point for compressors, medical gas equipment, industrial service tools and spare parts.

“From this new facility, our aim is to supply 100% of the spare parts required for the products we service in North America,” says Paul Hense, president of Atlas Copco Compressors. “This investment of approximately $6 million over the next seven years shows our commitment to the North American market and especially to the Charlotte area.”

The North American headquarters for Atlas Copco Compressors, BeaconMedæs, Chicago Pneumatic and Desoutter remains in Rock Hill, S.C.
