Aberdeen Group Forms Green IT and Sustainability Practice

Aug. 5, 2009
Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Co., has formed a new Green IT and Sustainability research practice.

As research director, Bill Lesieur will launch the practice along with green IT thought leader Carol Baroudi. Lesieur brings 25 years of business research and IT experience. Baroudi is a seasoned industry analyst and best-selling author, recently completed her latest book, Green IT For Dummies (Wiley & Sons) in April 2009.

Baroudi is shifting her research focus from IT security to green IT. "I've spent the last year researching these topics for Green IT For Dummies and am passionate about educating organizations around these issues. Green IT impacts all businesses," she says. "Every organization is in a position to be more responsible and can likely save cost at the same time. We look forward to hearing from organizations tackling green IT."

The Green IT and Sustainability practice will focus on the business use of green IT and the sustainability challenges of IT and communication industries. Coverage areas include greening of data centers, servers, storage, security, networks and desktops; green solutions, such as consolidation, virtualization, outsourcing, cloud services, power management, e-waste and recycling; business systems, such as lifecycle management, energy management, carbon management and capital management; and applications, such as telepresence, collaboration and unified communication.
