Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU) has entered into a strategic alliance partnership agreement with Lowry Industrial Trucks Ltd., a Toronto-based manufacturer of high-quality internal combustion (IC) cushion tire lift trucks with capacities ranging from 18,000 lb to 40,000 lb. Toyota's current IC cushion model lineup capacity range begins at 3,000 lb and ends at 15,500 lb.

"As a result of the exceptional quality, durability and success of our entire IC model lineup, more and more end users are requesting Toyota cushion tire lift trucks with capacities above 15,500 lb," said Dr. Shankar Basu, president and CEO of TMHU. "We felt Toyota's active involvement in this growing market trend is a necessary strategy for strengthening our position in the United States for years to come, and represents an important step in achieving our vision of becoming a total solutions provider for our customers."

Recognizing the growing trend for these larger capacity IC cushion lift trucks in industries such as paper, aluminum & steel coil, rigging, die handling and machinery moving, Toyota aggressively sought to align itself with a reputable manufacturer of lift trucks in this capacity range. Toyota spent nearly a year studying the large-capacity cushion market and manufacturers that distribute these products in North America.

The Lowry line of lift trucks is now available through Toyota's nationwide dealer network.
