Saddle Creek to Install Optical RTLS in Atlanta Facility

Sept. 29, 2009
Saddle Creek, a third-party logistics provider (3PL) has started the first phase of implementing a Total-Trax system from Sky-Trax Inc. in its 300,000-square foot Atlanta warehouse.

Total-Trax is an optical real-time location system (RTLS) that tracks goods and vehicles in facilities. For Saddle Creek, the RTLS will capture historical data, including vehicle and full pallet movements, from multiple vehicles in the facility. The RTLS will then transfer the data into the warehouse management system (WMS) for labor management and productivity analysis.

Saddle Creek and Sky-Trax plan to develop a detailed analysis of potential productivity and financial benefits of Total-Trax. After identifying and documenting results, Saddle Creeks plans to consider the technology for other locations.

Saddle Creek, based in Lakeland, Fla., offers contract and public warehousing, transportation and contract packaging and logistics services.
