Pilot Air Freight announced that it has received certification from the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection for meeting C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) guidelines for securing the transportation of cargo while protecting against terrorism. C-TPAT is an initiative designed to provide the highest level of security through close cooperation with shippers, suppliers, importers, carriers, brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers.
Pilot received the validation after completing a risk assessment with Customs, verifying that the company is effectively executing C-TPAT security practices and that the company's procedures are in line with the Department of Homeland Security's requirements for supply chain security.
C-TPAT validation enables Pilot and other compliant carriers to receive faster processing of shipments at borders, reduced inspections, and access to a Customs account manager.
