Viastore systems will manufacture and integrate four viaspeed storage/retrieval machines to handle an assortment of industrial connection products, automation technology, electronic interface systems and surge protection products. The four viaspeed machines will have approximately 44,000 storage locations for product stored in plastic totes in a double-deep rack configuration, each weighing up to 66 lbs. In addition, viastore will provide the free-standing rack structure, high speed tote handling conveyor system with eight automated sequence buffers feeding work stations for picking and packing and an automatic tote palletizer/depalletizer.

The new 50,000 sq.-ft. Phoenix Contact distribution center could be expanded to twelve aisles as needed. Construction of the building will begin this summer with a projected system start-up scheduled for the fall of 2008. The distribution center will be equipped with the most advanced warehousing and distribution equipment available from some of the world's leading manufacturers.

"In planning for the Harrisburg distribution center, we conducted a very thorough search of the industry's leading material handling companies. "We are excited to be working with viastore in the U.S. because of their software solutions, the proven design and performance of their S/R machines, and their integration capabilities as demonstrated on another Phoenix Contact project in Europe," said Phoenix Contact's director of logistics, Louis Paioletti said.
