Last week Nuvera Fuel Cells, Inc., moved its headquarters from Cambridge, Mass., to Billerica, Mass. Nuvera began renovating the facility in July of last year, creating over 50,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, 25 new research and development labs and additional office space. Total square footage in Billerica (129 Concord Road, Building 1, Billerica, MA, 01821) exceeds 110,000 sq. ft.
The move will support Nuvera's production ramp up, training and customer service in anticipation of the commercial release of its three fuel cell products in 2008. The new facility will allow for large scale manufacturing of PowerTap and PowerFlow for the material handling market, and Forza for the chemical process industry.
"This move shows both the investment we have made in ensuring our progress towards commercialization, along with the support the Commonwealth has provided us, allowing us to expand here in the state. Our new facility makes it possible for us to substantially increase the focus on downstream activities to assure a quality introduction of our products in 2008," said Roberto Cordaro, president and CEO of Nuvera.
