John Hill, principal of Esync, was given the Reed-Apple Award at the annual Material Handling Education Foundation banquet held during the fall meeting of the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA). This is one of the most prestigious awards in the material handling industry, and is given to those who have made a significant lifetime contribution to the field of material handling education.

Bernie Knill, MHM's former editor, received that honor several years ago. Before Hill received his award at the banquet, MHIA's CEO John Nofsinger was honored-with the Norman L. Cahners Award.

John Hill is also among the honorees of MHM's 2004 Innovator Awards. He's in a category by himself, as MHM's "Pioneering Innovator," in recognition of his participatory role in the early stages of bar coding and his early contribution to the field of material handling education. Hill will receive his award the night of January 11, when MHM hosts its second annual Innovator Awards Banquet in Chicago. Hill will also be the keynote speaker for the evening.
