To prevent end row or intersection rack damage from fork trucks, Steel King announces its Guard Dawg pallet rack protection, warehouse safety guardrail, which can have a ROI of 20:1 compared to the total cost of upright replacement. Typical single upright replacement, in fact, can cost about $1,000 to $1,500 including part cost, freight, change-out labor, downtime, and lost storage space. Guard Dawg helps avoid these costs while preventing rack damage that could lead to possible failure, employee injury or collapse.

Guard Dawg helps prevent the pallet rack damage that's simply a fact of life in most busy warehouses. Typically, damage is common along an upright's first 6" to 12" of column from the floor due to fork truck impact, especially at end rows, tunnels, drive thrus and intersections, where maneuvering is tight. Rack damage also occurs when fork truck operators push pallets, empty or with product, against end row uprights, which can bend their diagonal or horizontal bracing.

Constructed of high-strength 5" x 3" x 3/8" steel angle, Guard Dawg protects 3" or 4" wide upright columns, and comes in right, left or double ended guards so it works with virtually all end row racks.

Offered in two standard sizes, or customized to fit any span between back-to-back uprights, the pallet rack protection is secured to the floor with 3/4" heavy-duty anchors and hardware, included with purchase.

"To protect capital investment while guarding against downtime, liability and rising material cost, preventive safety is more important than ever today," says John Ellis, a Steel King Sales Manager. "Pro-active warehouse managers are finding Guard Dawg a cost effective way to achieve this. Many are installing it upon new rack installation, rather than waiting until after rack damage, replacement and facility disruptions costs."

Guard Dawg is powder coated bright industrial yellow for greater operator visibility, which can improve material handling safety and efficiency. Because it's powder coated rather than painted with enamel, it's 94% more resistant to chips and scratches. Guard Dawg is available in Steel King's 48-Hour Quick Ship stocking program.
