Universal Package Systems recently worked with an automotive supply company to develop a custom made, cut and welded plastic collapsible container measuring 146” long by 48” wide, by 50” tall. Drop doors on each of the four sides were added to the configuration to provide access to contents from any side, while custom dunnage holds product securely in place during transport.
The container is made of HDPE and features 4-way fork lift entry. By replacing a smaller, non-collapsible container with this custom made, collapsible plastic container, the customer's return ratio went from 1:1 to 2:1. This provided the ROI needed for justification.
